Jonah Goldberg has a column about what a good AG John Ashcroft was. I've detected a certain pattern over the last 15 years. Anyone who liberals villify as a loathsome human being generally turns out to be a pretty great guy, once the real story is told. Ashcroft joins the names Bork, Thomas, Starr, Reagan, and Bush. It's amazing the amount of slander and hatred these guys have put up with gracefully. The hatred directed at them says far more about the haters than the men themselves. As the saying goes, "They have all the right enemies."
