High Quality Discourse

There are many places on the web that offer forums for people to speak out. Most of them are useless, featuring a tsunami of essentially illiterate posts, and what we electrical engineers call a very poor "signal to noise ratio". One of my favorite places to go to read literate and intelligent conversation is Roger L. Simon's blog. Roger is a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and an Oscar nominated screenwriter, as well as the author of the Moses Wine series of detective novels. He is politically liberal, and was active in the radical movements of 1968. But he is a staunch post 9/11 Bush supporter. He has a great blog, and I stand in awe of some of the commentary from his readers. I don't know how they manage to just dash out some of the things they write!

Examples here, here, and here.

Update [10/02/04 15:53]: Superb discussion going on now.
