The human conscience is a fascinating thing. When you do something egregiously awful, it will drive you relentlessly in one of two directions. The first: contrition, making amends and changing your ways. The second: lashing out at the world, justifying yourself, and often enough, thunderously railing against the sins you've committed, but only as personified in
others, guilty or not (most often, not).
After the unprecedentedly demented (and demonic) treatment his cult-followers dished out on Palin all week, Obama
now says:
"We're not going to be bullied, we're not going to be smeared, we're not going to be lied about."
Yup, son. You've had a tough week.
