Mark Shea Is On A Roll

We have this:

Time Wrings its Hand About "Diversity Fatigue"

See, the thing is, you can only expect people to swallow stuff like "Your children *vill* be educated in the glories of gay sex and you will be punished if you protest or try to stop it" for so long. People can only stand soft-pedaled baloney like this:

The 17 suspects who were arrested Friday, men and youths alike, were allegedly “motivated by an ideology based on politics, hatred and terrorism, and not on faith,” Blair told a gathering of Muslim leaders and concerned community members.

for so long.

They can only witness so many displays of naked hostility to their own faith ("Hey! It's just a movie! Whatsamatta? You don't think Piss Christ is art? Hey! Check out the elephant dung on your precious Virgin") while being told to bend over and take it in the name of Tolerance for brutal savages who fully intended to build a bomb three times bigger than the OKC bomb.

Sooner or later, all the phony guilt manipulation simply stops working and people begin to swing (dangerously) to the opposite pole. They start muttering about "not taking it anymore". They start resenting even legitimate calls for tolerance and accomodation of diversity. They decide to go on a rage bender. They think they've earned it.

That's the way the fallen human animal works. Like a drunk, he falls off the horse on one side and then climbs back up and falls off on the other. Expecting him to moderate his response to the tyrannical overreach of the Diversity Police and the Compassion Gestapo is asking a helluva lot, particular since the only power that can restrain our usually drunken behavior is Grace, which the Compassion Gestapo has labored for years to limit access to.

When the collapse of civility happens and the great "F You!" is finally shouted by a mob of dangerous and unbalanced people who have given up on the idea of listening to the guilt mongers, don't expect it to be pretty.

and this:

The cardinal mistake of the postmodern world has been to believe that Truth is simply a mask on the face of power. The result of believing this is not to make us able to resist the tyranny of power, but to persuade everybody that whoever wins, it will be by the raw exercise of force, and not according to truth. Benedict is right, if there is no truth, then we have no freedom because only the truth makes us free. It is just as John Paul says: the defining mark of original sin is the loss of God as Father. That doesn't mean you are rid of God. It simply means that you blind yourself to the point where you can only relate to him as Master. And once that's your universe, the rest of your relations are predicated on a Master/slave basis too.
