180 Degrees Off

Somewhere in his inaugural address, Obama mentioned "restoring trust in government". In my opinion it is precisely the opposite that is desperately needed. It is distrust in government that needs restoration.

It makes me wish people would glean some wisdom from Reagan and wipe the Obama-induced tears out of their eyes to really see the situation as it is:

"In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem." (1st inaugural address)

"That system has never failed us, but, for a time, we failed the system. We asked things of government that government was not equipped to give. We yielded authority to the National Government that properly belonged to States or to local governments or to the people themselves. We allowed taxes and inflation to rob us of our earnings and savings and watched the great industrial machine that had made us the most productive people on Earth slow down and the number of unemployed increase." (2nd inaugural address)

And during Obama's coronation - er, inauguration - I found this bit from his speech jaw-dropping:
"Our Founding Fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake."

...maybe he forgot about his previous
remarks
on the Constitution.

hmmm.
