I've Got To Agree With Denninger
They shouldn't be at all surprised when Leviathan turns on them.
As I say, from time to time -- and, generally, my on-line friends who are Catholic disagree and decline to understand my point -- the bureaucrats of the Catholic hierarchy are just fine with socialism, at least until it directly hits the flow of money into the bureaucracy.
Socialism originates as a Christian (and specifically, a Catholic) heresy; it's pretty much just Catholic "social teaching" without "all that bothersome God-talk". There is something in Catholicism which fosters socialism and gives it theological respectability; I think it’s grounded in that worship of “holy poverty”, which generally leads Catholic intellectuals to hate private wealth.
