I never particularly cared for the Beatles -- I was still a little boy when they hit the scene, and I was both amused and appalled at how girls I knew (I mean, girls 5-10 years older than I was) were going ga-ga over them -- but I have always actively loathed that particular song.
Odd that those who like the song presume that if people were only "living for today" and had "nothing to live or to die for" that they would all live in "peace", rather than as wild, uninhibited, reckless, self-absorbed folk like, say, Bonnie and Clyde, or Sid Vicious. The song should be re-title "The Illogical Song."

Speaks volumes, I agree.
At least Myers recognizes that it's an atheist anthem. A lot of liberal Christians don't seem to get that, somehow.
