From National Geographic's Top Ten Space Finds of 2009:

1. Sun Oddly Quiet—Hints at Next "Little Ice Age"?

In May the sun was still the most sluggish it had been in decades, prompting concerns about a cooling effect on climate—but the dip in solar activity wouldn't be likely to fight global warming, researchers cautioned.


A cooling effect on climate won't help fight global warming? Obviously the term "global warming" is here being used to refer to something other than, you know, global warming. This is a bit like American journalists referring to black athletes from other countries as "African Americans", isn't it?
