What Conversion Requires

Nice post by Mark Shea as he encourages a prospective convert to Catholicism from Episcopalianism.

One snippet I liked:

One thought experiment a friend of mine proposes to his well-meaning Evangelical students when they are tempted to suppose that "we're all saying the same thing" is to cheerfully say, "Great! Then I'll see you after class! Let's go adore the Blessed Sacrament and ask the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Supreme Pontiff John Paul the Great for the Holy Souls in Purgatory." Voila! It turns out we aren't all saying the same thing.

Honest question...do Catholics believe in purgatory?

Radar,

Yes, indeed. Rather than get in a lengthy back in forth in the comments here, I'll point you to some apologetics sites which spell out why (apologetics on the more general catholic/protestant question are also on those sites).

Also, thanks for your interest in my light bulb post!

You forgot to mention dropping some cash for a couple of indulgences and buying a burial scapular for the Sabbatine Privilege.

Nice layout, BTW.

Rhology--

Well, you know, that's what I get for being in bondage to the Whore of Babylon...

Neither I nor anyone I know has ever "dropped cash" for a couple of indulgences. I assume that this is an honest misunderstanding on your part and not just some drive-by Reformed snark (correct me if I'm wrong).

It looks like you and your wife are doing some great missionary work in Japan. With best wishes, I pray for your success in bringing souls to faith in Christ!
