Anti-Christian Hatred On The Rise

Good Don Feder article. Rejoice! As Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount:

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

It is indeed good to have clear, rather than blurred lines. For people to be hot or cold, rather than lukewarm...

I think Bill Maher had a point about the entire "War on Christians" idea: If the group in question makes up 80% of the nation's population and members of the group run all three branches of government, is there really a war or is it primarily rhetoric to fire up the core voting bloc? When was the last time an avowed atheist or even agnostic was elected to national office?

The most prominent elected American atheist I can find was Culbert Olson, who won the California governorship in 1938 largely because of FDR's personal endorsement. Amusingly, he had something to say about Intelligent Design: "[W]e no longer talk about the divine purpose of the various organs of the human body in an attempt to make it appear to be a logical and rational piece of construction."
