What Else Do You Need To Know?
Based on recent behavior (talk of impeachment over standard wartime NSA practices?!?), this fact is perfectly evident: The Democrats consider the defense of this country to be a criminal enterprise. Fine. Message received. Loud and clear.

I think -- I hope -- the concerns are about surveillance that goes beyond "standard wartime practices", into territory that the Supreme Court has previously ruled illegal or unconstitutional. I have not seen evidence yet that the surveillance program was on one side of that line or the other, but since the program is classified, I do not expect personally to see any such evidence.
I hope there will be an investigation into that question. I hope there will also be an investigation into who leaked the information to the media attention hounds and why they did not pursue the intra-governmental oversight options. To investigate question one but not the other is bad politics and bad government.
Whatever the outcomes of those investigations, I think it is ridiculous politics to talk about impeachment: Even if the DoJ was pandering to the President, it appears that he did ask for review of these decisions to see if they were colorable, and most of the previous Presidents have issued similar Executive Orders. If the precedent was wrong -- which is a big if -- impeachment is a horrible way to indicate that.
