Financial Innumeracy
A great example at the NYT. One of the political parties is well-served by this sort of ignorance. Any guesses which one?
As soon as I saw the headline of the Times story I figured it was something like this. I have had a few friends who are reorters, and generally, they have one idea of how the world works and all the stories they write are flavored with that idea. For most of them "corporations" are big bad oppressors. That makes it easy for them to be uncritical about false claims in politicians' press releases.
