The U.S. Mint is worried that people will start melting down pennies and nickels because the metal has become worth more than the coins. Frankly I'm surprised that pennies and nickels contain anything valuable in them at all. I've noticed that quarters feel just about like compressed and spraypainted sawdust these days.
